Our Grandad, Read at Dad's Memorial Service on Friday 26/02/2010 - 2.00 pm - at St. Mary's Church, East Barnet

Our Grandad Our Grandad was an amazing man – honest, supportive generous and incredibly brave – to name only a few of his many qualities. Grandad has and always will hold a special place in our hearts and there will forever be the gap he created when he passed away. His likeable, cheeky personality made him an instant hit with anyone he met. He always had time for you and was genuinely interested in what you had been doing and what you had to say. Grandad would never fail to give his honest view, something he was greatly respected for because usually, he was right! His presence, morals and opinions have helped shape who we are and although he has taken his place in heaven, he has influenced our lives in such a way that he will always be with us, in everything we do. Grandad has been extremely supportive; always making sure we have everything we need and more. He would always ask about school, work and our interests and would be on hand, ready to give advice and encouraging words. He was so proud of everything we achieved and you could be sure that the news of our successes would soon be passed on to his friends. We can all gain comfort and joy in looking back at all of the wonderful times we have spent with him, from Christmases and Birthdays to Weddings and Holidays, especially our day trips to Southend, where we would walk along the seafront eating warm, sugary doughnuts – we all have our favourite and treasured memories of our time together. We are so incredibly proud of you Grandad and love you so much. We are lucky to have been part of your life and know that wherever you are, you are watching over and whatever path we choose to take in life, you will continue to look after us. Thank you, for giving us so much, we have learnt from you and look up to you. We will miss you always – Our Very Special Grandad. Charlotte, Luke, Tom and Pip x x x x
